he called dibs on being the head in the second episode of season 1 (exactly at 6:22)
he is the oldest paladin (since shiro was confirmed six years old)
he is the strongest of team voltron and also incredibly intelligent [x]
he overcomes all his fears in order to help others
he is literally the kindest person in the universe and everybody loves hunk so nobody would actually attack them ever again
ALSO: - it would provide an important message on how being patient and kind is more of a leadership trait than being brash and aggressive - he’s proven that he’s willing to make hard calls that go against his personal wishes for the benefit of others (i.e. leaving Shay to return to the castle) - having him as leader would create a nurturing and supportive team environment that would be beneficial to all the paladins
ghostbusters are always like who are you gunna call? ghostbusters! but it’s hard enough to call the doctor’s office i’m not gunna call the ghostbusters i’d just live with a ghost in my house forever
Just once, I want the hero to go “your wife/sister/mother/whatever would not have wanted this!”, and the villain to go, “actually, we talked about this a lot. She was really into vigilante justice and eye for an eye stuff. She always said, if something like this happens, avenge me.”
“Your mother never would have wanted this!”
“Wow you clearly never met my mother.”
“What? I just met your mother and she BEGGED me to stop you.”
“Oh, you must be talking about my other mother. They’re divorced.”
